Organic Shikakai Powder - Acacia Concinna (Shikai Powder) - Best Natural Cleanser - All Natural - Herbs India (Half LB - 8 Oz)

I am 44 years old with thinning wavy-curly hair that tends to be dry and frizzy. I only wash my hair 2-3 times a week. I decided to try this out after reading about its use as a replacement for shampoo. I mix a tablespoon of the powder with a tablespoon of rosewater (regular water works as well), and apply it to my scalp in the shower. I use it on my hair when it's wet. It does not make suds, and took some getting used to-for working the paste all over the scalp to clean the roots of my hair. The purpose of this is to clean, which it does very well. I'm hoping that by using this product I am stopping the damage that harsh, sudsy shampoos cause.

Received my order of Shikakai Powder and have tried it for a few days since received and strangely enough I have to say I notice a difference in the texture of my hair. I have to attribute the change to the product because prior to using this product my hair was often dry and noticeably brittle after my years of using hair Gel. Great stuff! I still shampoo occasionally because my hair is just that bad, but the conditioning properties of this stuff is incredible! My hair tangles really easy, but this makes it a lot easier to brush out.

I have been using Shikakai for several years now and know what it is supposed to look/ smell like. But this brand of shikakai just smells bad. I mean... it smells like smoke and ashes. I first thought maybe I was imagining things... but one day when I got out of the shower after washing my hair with this Shikakai, my husband asked why the bathroom was smelling of smoke?!! I don't think I will be ordering this brand again. Sorry!
