Internet connection required
A basic video editing package. It lacks the bells and whistles of other packages which is not a bad thing in my view. If you just want some basic editing features then this may well suit you.It, along with all Magix software, has a very considerable drawback. It does require an internet connection. Even though all of the work is done on your local machine you must register it with Magix and have an ongoing internet connection so that it can automatically log in once a month. If you lose your internet connection through no fault of your own - isp issues, broken router etc then the software will stop working if it cannot log in once a month.- even thougth you have paid for it. I find this sort of thing abhorrent and incredibly consumer unfriendly. You can also only use it on the machine you register it on - you can change to another machine, perhaps a laptop, but only once per month - again I find this very consumer unfriendly.

Basic but good value software
Magix Fastcut Video Editing Software works quite well with footage from our Sony Action Cam. My son does a lot of video editing and this simple to use software is ideal for those times when he doesn't need an all singing and dancing package to get good results. The software is optimised for GoPro and I guess most users will find that useful as GoPro seem to dominate the action cam market at present – however, we have not found that to be a problem in use. If you don't want to do anything but basic video editing of action footage then the Magix Fastcut is an inexpensive option to do so. We have used it with Windows 7 – it says it is compatible with Windows 8 too – I'm not sure if it is suitable for Windows 10 though.

64-bit operating systems only
This software is for 64-bit versions of Windows 7, 8 or 10 only. It doesn’t really make that clear in the product description and is only on the pack in very small writing and hidden away on the Magix website. It did at least tell me that it was for 64-bit versions only when I tried to install it! I had hoped it would have been a replacement for my beloved Flip software for my Flip camera, sadly not. I don't think I am alone in running Windows 7 32-bit and even if I upgrade to Windows 10 it will still be 32-bit. For that reason I don’t like it.
