Immediately noticed reduction in itchiness after first use. The scalp is clean, a bit drying, but conditioner should solve the issue. No smell and works well to control oil. Recommended

My son has had eczema since he was an infant, including his scalp, always having itchy and dry skin. He has used a prescription steroid ointment since a toddler, but not only can you not use it more than 2 weeks at a time, but it’s also difficult to apply on the scalp if you have longer hair. Being a teenager he is very sensitive to his looks and having extreme dandruff from his scalp eczema definitely affected his self esteem. We have tried tea tree shampoo, Nizoral, Selsun Blue,Head and Shoulders and even tar shampoo, but nothing we bought over the counter worked. I figured I had nothing to lose when trying this Vanicream shampoo. After 2 weeks my son has already noticed a difference. Now he finally has relief from the itchiness, no flakes and is more confident. I’d definitely recommend you give this a try! He also uses the Vanicream body wash and body cream on a regular basis as well. We are so thankful for this product! After 13 years he no longer uses unhealthy steroid prescriptions! I’ve used it for over a week and my scalp is definitely getting better. It makes by hair feel a little oily which is why I gave it 4 stars but if I use it every other day it’s not as bad( I use Suave shampoo the next day and my hair becomes soft. Definitely recommend giving it a try.

I used this for a small, itchy patch in my scalp. This spot had been itchy for several weeks. This shampoo made a huge difference after just one shampoo. I only had to use it once more and my issue was gone.I selected it because of the mild ingredients and the lack of dyes and sulfates. I also chose it because I did some research and found that the active ingredient in this shampoo, zinc pyrithione, is effective for clearing up itchy (likely fungal) issues like I was having.

Vanicream never disappoints. If you are looking for an afforable unscented and no nonsense shampoo this is a good option. It cleans hair well, however because it doesn't lather up as much as most shampoos you think you need more to get an extra clean, I would recommend shampooing twice with lesser amount to ration it properly.

I did not dislike anything about this dandruff shampoo except now it is not available and might not be back in stock. I am praying it will be as it is VERY hard to find a truly fragrance free, less chemicals in a dandruff shampoo. This one worked great, lathered up well, and did not bother my sensitivity’s. I have been using it for about four years now. Am very sad to have to find another fragrance free dandruff shampoo that will not bother my sensitivity’s. Sometimes they are NOT fragrance free and/or the chemicals bother me. This brand was great. Please bring back!

This works well enough as a regular shampoo, but we have not see improvement with flaking/dandruff. Beware don’t use this on an already oily scalp as it will make it feel greasier.
